Disk space needed for Sharepoint file-level restore
We're trying to restore a single file from our SharePoint database with the "Veeam Explorer for SharePoint" feature. Currently, the restore operation does not work. Here's the error message:
"CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 3(The system cannot find the path specified.) while attempting to open or create the physical file 'C:\VeeamFLR\DBCM-DCA-SQ-200\Volume3\SQL\Data\SP_EDMSVM_PRD_WSSContent.mdf'.
Our SharePoint database is over 1TB. Does that mean that we need that much buffer space available on our Veeam server?

Could be indeed caused by the default SQL Express limitations or file access issues as well. I recommend contacting support to verify this.

Re: Disk space needed for Sharepoint file-level restore
Searching for an informational answer to the question?
If I do a single file restore of a SharePoint DB where DB size is 500GB and the Drive (D:) where folder VeeamFLR\ is locate on has 100GB free space left, will this drive running out of space, because of DB extraction, during the single item restore?
Is there a rule of thumb for extract calculation?

Hi Marco,
You should take care about free space on the target server only. VeeamFLR is a logical folder that proxies access to data in the backup file, it does not require additional space.
Thanks!
