DR in Azure ...
Hi,
Is it possible to have an infrastructure for replication at Azure?
What I would like is just having to activate the faiover without having to restore the VM in the cloud.
Can veeam cloud connect work with azure for a DR?
Thanks.

Re: DR in Azure ...
No. We do not have hypervisor level access.
You can use VMware cloud in azure and veeam can replicate into that.

Thanks,
ok so otherwise it's veeam direct restore. But you have to wait for the restoration to finish before activate the failover ?

Re: DR in Azure ...
Correct. There are other ways to create a lightweight DR. For example you could send backups into Azure blob and have a veeam server running in Azure that runs a task to catalog the backups. Then in the event of a disaster you can kick off the direct restore and it would be more efficient.

Hi,
If I understand, with vSphere for Azure, VMs in the cloud have a VMware format?
So, if we use an Azure Blob for the VM backups and after create a job to create a replica from the backup. Is it possible ?

Re: DR in Azure ...
That would be possible...but you could just skip the 3 steps and do a replication job from on prem into the vsphere for azure. This would be a pure DR site in this case.
The vsphere for azure is a good option if you are ok with the price. It does open up a bunch more possibilities due to the fact that it is really just another vsphere environment in azure.

Understood. Have you looked into some of our Cloud Connect DR providers?

[MERGED] Veeam Replica to Azure
Hi,
I am new to this.
So basically i have 2 servers, an AD (Win2012 R2) and an App Server (Win2012 R2).
I just use and setup my Veeam B&R Community Edition (Ver 10.0.0.4461 P1) to backup to my Synology NAS.
However, I am looking to setup a replica as well for DR plan.
I was wondering and would like to ask people in here, if its possible to set Veeam Replica to my Azure Subscription.
If its possible, how to do that? I cant just replica to Azure Storage Account - right?

Re: Veeam Replica to Azure
No, you cannot replicated a Agent to Azure. Replicate a VM to Azure can work if your are using nested hyper V Server on Azure:

There is already a topic for your question:

You can restore a VM or Agent to azure:

[MERGED] DR to cloud, & cloud 2 cloud
Hi. Do any of the Veeam solutions facilitate;
1. on-prem vSphere VM replicas to Azure IaaS for DR?
or
2. region-to-region Azure IaaS VM replicas for DR?
Or do you have to restore VMs from backup in these scenarios? (I assume this use of restore vs replicas massively impacts achievable RTO)
Thanks
