Enterprise Manager: Configuration options not appearing
I've just set up B&R8.0.0.917, and I'm seeing some strange behaviour with Enterprise Manager when I log on for the first time. Using the shortcut EM placed on my desktop, I get directed to https://computername:9443/ as expected. When I log on with a local administrator account, the same account used when installing EM, also the only user account on this standalone Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Edition VM, I get an error message saying: "Cannot find backed up VMs where the user belongs to Local Administrators Group", and I dont see any EM configuration options.
If I open http://computername:9080/, and log on with the exact same credentials, I see the configuration options and can set up my Veeam Backup Server and vCenter connections. I can also see the Summary, Data, Last 24 Hours and Status boxes, something I dont see when utilizing https.
Isn't it a bit strange that I get the configuration options, and other data, when accessing it over http, but not over https?

Re: Enterprise Manager: Configuration options not appearing
Oh, I just realized something!
This has to be browser related. I tried this with IE11.0.9600.16663 on the server itself, and this behavior is reproducible. If I use another browser, for instance Safari on my Macbook, I get the data regardless of http or https. I'm guessing this is related to IE security settings on the server, not Veeam EM as such.

Uhm, interesting.
Let's see if QC can reproduce this behaviour in our lab and either confirm it's a bug or some known issue, or a misconfiguration somewhere.
Thanks for now for the heads-up!

Oh, one more thing!
If I use https://localhost:9443, or the FQDN veeambr8.deathstar.local (which is funny, since this is a standalone VM not joined to the domain - the DNS name is still valid though) it works, but not if I use https://veeambr8:9443

And another thing, if I only use https://veeambr8:9443/ I don't get SSL certificate warnings, which makes sense since thats the name on the certificate generated during install. If I use localhost or the FQDN, I get warnings since the hostnames don't match, but the interface works.

QC were not able to reproduce the issue. Looks like when using a hostname, you're logged into a self-restore portal due to failure to authenticate you as Enterprise Manager administrator for some reason (probably some browser-specific security settings). I recommend to contact support to review the log files.

Re: Enterprise Manager: Configuration options not appearing
Adding the Veeam VM to the domain, and using domain admin works fine, without changing any browser security settings. This only happened when the VM was not joined to a domain, and I used the default IE settings. The VM was fresh and it's only use was as a Veeam Server.

Re: Enterprise Manager: Configuration options not appearing
I have the same issue and I am pretty sure that the problem is browser related.
(I am able to login and to browse through the menu, but the graph on the main page is missing and some of the tabs are empty)
- accounts: a lot of variations - local users, administrators, domain user, domain admins - no effect
- workstation: part of domain, part of workgroup, local execution (on Veeam Server 2012) - no effect
- browsers (updated): - chrome, firefox and iexplorer - no effect
But if I try little bit old browser, or some portable version - everything is working fine.
IE version 11.0.9600.17633 - not working
IE version 11.0.9600.17416 - working
Chrome version 40.0.2214.115m - not working
Chrome portable version 29.0.1547.76 - working
I think that the problem is with SSL\ TLS settings and I played with them, but whitout succes.
*Note: logging through http on 9080 produce the same situation as on https :9443
Any advices?
Thanks!

Re: Enterprise Manager: Configuration options not appearing
Hi again guys,
I hit the same problem in another environment. The details are the same - Veeam BR v. 8.0.0.917, MS Windows server 2012, IE browser with the latest updates...and some of the views in Enterprise Manager console is not showing.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dimitar

@foggy, is there some progress with the reproduction of the issue and the resolution for it?foggy wrote:QC were not able to reproduce the issue.
