Error 1392, File or directory is corrupted and unreadable

Recently, I've started seeing the following error - across multiple VMs and jobs:

Failed to index guest file system. VSSControl: Index failed
Error: Failed to call RPC function 'Vss.GetFileFromGADir': Error code: 0x80070570. Failed to invoke func [GetFileFromGADir]: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.. Cannot copy file. Source file: [\\server.address\ADMIN$\VeeamVssSupport\metadata\VSS\BackupComponents.xml]. Target file: [C:\Windows\{3f0a0028-083c-41b6-82da-12fdf4586568}\BackupComponents.xml]. CopyFile() failed. Win32 error:The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. Code: 1392

The jobs fail at each instance of the error, and then complete successfully on subsequent retries.
I'm not too bothered - as all the jobs complete eventually, but the phrase 'corrupted and unreadable' is disconcerting.

Anybody recognize this error - before I place a support call?

Please open a case for closer investigation. Though this is not related to the backup itself, guest OS indexing is failing, but still better to investigate.
