Error VSScontrol

Post by gbaird »

Support ticket - #02065216

we recently started getting VSS errors on our VBR server. This coincided with the addition of two new "TARGET" iSCSI backup repositories.

We had been using a single iSCSI target drive with no errors. These non-system disks are excluded from the backups.

I have looked at KB1794 but don't think space on C: is issue as this wasn't ocuring before the addition of the two iSCSI repositories. C: has 25GB free space.

Yes, server has been rebooted :)

Code: Select all

Error message

Failed to prepare guest for hot backup. Error: VSSControl: -2147467259 Backup job failed.
Cannot create a shadow copy of the volumes containing writer's data.
VSS asynchronous operation is not completed. Operation: [Shadow copies commit]. Code: [0x8004230f].

I think I fixed it

Two things

On day we added new disks there is an event log that has a VSS access denied for the new volumes - I force added System to have full access

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... ovistaapps

Then I changed settings for the shadow copy storage to be unlimited - https://www.veeam.com/kb2188

Even though we disabled shadow copies before

Anyway the job as started sucessfully now.
