Error when setting credentials on ESX 4 server

Post by stephaneb »

Hello,

When I try to set user credentials on my ESX servers, I specify an account which has sudo privileges and I tell the Veeam console to elevate to root.
After a while, I get the following error logged in /tmp on the ESX server:
sudo: sorry, you must have a tty to run sudo
I have manually tested the account and I can elevate to root with sudo or su with no problem.

What gives?

Regards,

Stephane B.

Hello Stephane,

I've done some research on your error, try to do the following to fix your issue:

The reason for this is the following line added to the /etc/sudoers configuration file.

Code: Select all

Defaults requiretty
To allow you to login and run a command via sudo simply comment out that line.

Should help! Thank you!
