Exch 13 Passive node restore

Post by lobo519 »

I was doing some testing with my Exchange 2013 restores using Surebackup. I only backup the passive node per recommendations I have read. I noticed that none of the databases mount. They were all in a disconnected state.

I ended up using the following command to force them to mount on the passive node.

Code: Select all

Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase -Identity (databasename) -ActivateOnServer (servertoactivate) –SkipActiveCopyChecks -SkipClientExperienceChecks -MountDialOverride:BestEffort –SkipLagChecks
Is this normal behavior?

Yes, that's expected behavior since all databases are inactive on the passive node. If you power on this VM, you will need to run you script. For Veeam Explorer for Exchange this is not required though.
