Hello,
there is a strange behavior in the replication depending on the source object of the job.
When picking a bunch of VMs as mys source, Replica VMs are in "same as source" (which is the standard default behavior)
When Selecting a vsphere container as my source, Replica VMs are created by default in thin provisioning.
the only way to have thick provisioned replicas is by picking a datastore for the vm & setting the format disk to thick.
it would be convenient to set the default disk disk format when a container is the source object of the replication job.
and to put the default setting in same as source.
The opened at the support is Case # 00953168.
Regards,
Blaise

Re: Feature request - choose default disk format for replica
You can go to destination -> Pick Datastore -> click add vm button, select the source datastore to add all VMs residing on it, and, then, choose required disk type for them accordingly. Thanks.

Re: Feature request - choose default disk format for replica
As I understand, the feature request is about our interface limitation:
You cannot specify the disk type for a VM folder, so you have to add the VMs themselves and set disk type one by one.
It's also impossible to set the DiskType when using PowerShell to create a job from VM folder, it always sets it to "Thin disk".
So Blaise David asks for a feature to add this possibility in the interface options.

Re: Feature request - choose default disk format for replica
Hi Deon,
That's exactly it.
And set the default disk type settings when selecting a container as source to "Same as source".
That would be great.

Blaise
