Feature Request: Total Size Column in Jobs view

Post by Diablo »

This is a feature request to have the option for a new column in the "Jobs" view in B&R.
I would like to be able to see/sort my backups by size.
Would it be possible to have the option for a new column in the "Jobs" view so that I can quickly see at a glance how much data/disk size is selected for a certain job?

Thanks for considering,

Hi Diablo, welcome to the forums.

Thank you for the request, a few clarifying questions if I may:

1. You mention see/sort the backups by size, but you also mention the Jobs view -- are you interested in seeing:
  • The size of all objects added to a given job so you can sort jobs by the amount of data they are backing up?
  • The size of all backup files (summed) produced by a given job?
2. Is your goal to have a reliable report for checking the backups or maybe you can explain the use case a bit more. If you're just needing to have an overview on the backup space used on repositories, check some of our Veeam One reports:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/r ... ml?ver=120
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/r ... ml?ver=120

For example, backup billing here provides a pretty nice report by machine, and the backup files growth report will break it down in a number of ways (top 10 jobs by size, repositories + jobs by size, etc)

Hi,

Thanks for your responds.

1: Ideally both but I was specifically referring to the first option.
2: In our environments we have jobs that range from a few hundred Gb to dozens of Tb that we are backing up.
At the moment when we want to change something for all jobs of a tenant or need to do maintenance, to identify those jobs that can be done quickly I would open/edit the job, go to objects, check out the total size, and close it again.
I would have to do this for all jobs individually.
It would be nice to have that information at a glance from the jobs overview page.

Unfortunately we do not have Veeam One as my employer does not want ot upgrade just yet. :(

Hope this helps.
