Feature Request: V12 rebalance, but in the backround

Post by mkretzer » 1 person likes this post

Hello,

the new V12 SOBR rebalance feature is nice, but kind of useless when using big, not so fast repos.

- all jobs cannot use the repo while rebalancing is running - bad when you need log backup to work
- it is infact possible to cancel the rebalance, but there is no way to know if after restarting the rebalance it continues where it started
- For bigger repos (> 500 TB) rebalance can take weeks - weeks without backups running

Why can this not be a (manually startable) backround feature? That a backup chain currently beeing moved cannot create a new synthetic is normal. But why stop everything else? At least log backups should run, even incementals should not be an issue.

Also, from my limited understanding there is no way to manually move a backup between SOBR extends without loosing block cloning even in V12.

We cannot comment on yet unreleased features and functionality.

Also, please do not discuss private betas on the public forums. You should be sending all the feedback directly to the Veeam employee who shared the beta build with you.

Thank you for the understanding!
