File space allocation within a scale-out

Post by perjonsson1960 »

Folks,

If a have a scale-out repository with two identical extents, and one of those extents has significantly more free space, will Veeam choose to put the backups from a new backup (copy) job on the extent with the most free space, if I choose the scale-out as target?

[MERGED] Scale out extent selection during backups

Post by somoa »

Hi

When you have multiple performance tier extents, how does Veeam select what one to use for a job?

I recently had backups going to one extent and today is now making a new synthetic full backup on a 2nd extent.
What is making it select this over the other? I can only assume due to it having more free space.

Hi folks,

Moved your posts to the existing thread to keep similar discussions together.
Fabian's right, it's already described in helpcenter.

Thanks!
