Ha for Veeam B&R server and Ha for veeam one
Dear experts,
Hope you all doing great.
I have a 3 questions, actually I'm fresh it graduated and user of Veeam.
My first question is :
We have a Veeam B&R server VM installed in Win10 machine hosted in HyperV.
The Veeam B&R server manage all 3 hyperv server and the VMs under HyperV.
So can we create an HA for our Veeam B&R server?
Second question is :I saw that there is a product from veeam called Veeam Availability console, si what is used for and how can be deployed in my case.?
Note that we planning to install Veeam one on the same machine windows 10 that hosted veeam B&R or maybe in a separate VM.
Looking forward for reply for my scenario, your help is very appreciated.
Regards,
Franks

Re: Veeam Ha
Veeam doesn‘t have a HA Feature. It can not be clustered.
Veeam Availability console Is called „Veeam Service Provider Console“. You need to be a registered Service Provider to use this console. It doesn‘t give you HA Features. It‘s mostly for monitoring onsite customers vbr server over the Veeam Cloud Connect Environment or managing Agent directly in the VSPC Console.
Veeam One can be installed on the same server as your vbr. But I recommend a separate Server for that.
If you go with windows 10, you will need a Pro or Enterprise Windows 10 installation

Hello,
I would solve HA on the hypervisor level. For VMware the easiest way is VMware-HA, but not sure whether that exists for Hyper-V. As alternative, you could replicate the VBR VM to another host with Veeam replication https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110 .
Or just have a standby VM where you point your configuration backups to and restore the configuration backup in case something bad happens https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

second VM is strongly recommendedVeeam one on the same machine windows 10 that hosted veeam B&R or maybe in a separate VM.
hmm, we have the Veeam Service Provider Console and the Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator (formerly Veeam Availability Orchestrator - this name is still on some web-pages). In both cases, I see no use-case in your setup. The orchestrator is for disaster recovery orchestration and I'm missing your DR site in your post. Well, and it only supports VMware. So your setup is out of scope.I saw that there is a product from veeam called Veeam Availability console,

Re: Ha for Veeam B&R server and Ha for veeam one
Hello HannesK
is there a sync/HA Featuere planned for Veeam in V12 or anytime soon? Best would be an identical copy of Veeam Backup Server (incl. all jobs / configs. etc).
Or is there powershell / automation feature to restore the configuration backup automatically on site 2 and also do a copy job for veeam backup repos to site 2 and rescan them regularly?

Hello,
everything stays the same for foreseeable future.
The existing options are the same. A long discussion can be found here
Having a virtual backup server and replicating that VM is what most people do from what I hear (except for those ones who have geo-redundant storage and VMware HA "solves" failovers)
Best regards,
Hannes

So in the V12.3 thread "Backup server HA" is mentioned. How exactly will that work? Will running jobs be able to continue if the Veeam server fails over?
What about repos? Can a repo server use shared storage to get HA for that as well?

Hello,
it's too early for "exactly". The configuration database is synchronously mirrored and the secondary node can take it from there.
There are no plans for repository HA with shared storage for now.
Best regards
Hannes
