Hot adding a disk corrupts the VMs snapshot descriptor file

Post by icebun »

When in vAppliance Mode, I was attempting to carry out a backup in a VM that had multiple disks (3 VMDKs).

It went through the process of creating a snapshot but then errored with the message:-

Failed to power on scsi0:2 failed to add scsi0:2

I saw on the Veeam server that it still had hold of the VMDK file so I manually unmounted this.

As a consequence, on the actual VM itself, it has left a snapshot file in the datastore which cannot be removed by snapshot manager.

I have a separate call to VMware to assist in the rebuild of the snapshot config file.

Just wanted to know if anyone has seen this behaviour before?
