How do you group/organize backup jobs ?
I was looking for a way to group or organize backup jobs and found nothing useful.
I have lots of backup jobs and I would like to give them a logical structure, grouping them according to some criteria.
I tagged each job using the description field, so I can sort them using the tag, but I cannot filter.
What else can I do ?
The lack of a grouping functionality let me wonder if it is a bad practice to have lots of different backup jobs versus less backup jobs with more vm inside.

Re: How do you group/organize backup jobs ?
Hi Filippo
In V12 with the new backup chains (Per-machine backup with separate metadata files), we tested a single job with several hundreds of VMs inside. For V11, the recommendation for Single-file backup chains was 30 VMs and Per-machine backup chains 300 VMs per job.
May I ask if you can elaborate a little bit more on your job design? How many jobs are you using?
Multiple Jobs make sense for different retention, different schedule and or different target requirements.
Did you have tried our Job filter views to create different filters based on job type and names? Those filters can be displayed in the menu on the left side.

Re: How do you group/organize backup jobs ?
Its a subjective thing job grouping.
Are you looking after a single customer / site or multiple clients / sites.
I find it's best to tailor it to what you and your team need to be able to recover from worst case scenarios. So logical groupings that make sense to your business needs makes the best sense in my opinion.

I would like to divide my jobs based on automatic/manual schedule, geographical site of vmware cluster, operative system of VMs.
Job filter views have no valid options for my goal, right ?

Have you not considered using VM tags? - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
You can create jobs based on the VM tag.

@filippoAdb
Job filter allows you to group jobs in separate views in the backup console.
For better automatization (adding/removing VMs from jobs), use Marks recommendation of VM tags.
Best,
Fabian
