how to launch "Background Retention" from powershell

Good day all,

as per documentation https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
the Background Retention runs thirty minutes after midnight, no way to change this schedule. But it's possible to disable this schedule by adding a propert key to the registry and start manually the process from the GUI Console.

I would like to know if it's possible to launch the process with a powershell command: my goal would be to create a little script that can be used with Windows Task Scheduler, in order to run it automatically with a different frequency and/or timing instead of daily at 00.30.

Please allow me the question, what's the use case to disable it?
Background retention job don't interfere with running backups jobs.

and/or timing instead of daily at 00.30.

You can change the time with 2 registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\
"RetentionJobStartTimeHours" DWORD, 0-23
"RetentionJobStartTimeMinutes" DWORD, 0-59

good day Fabian, first of all let me thank you for your very kind answer and for your time.

The use case is this: a customer we are supporting experienced a issue with a backup job, opened Case # 06050804 and the Support Engineer found an "interference" between Background Retention Job and another Backup Job, and suggested to disable the Background Retention and potentially run it manually as described here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
