Linux Repositories Incorrectly reporting space available

Post by aSmithZimcom »

We have several Linux repositories all formatted in XFS and running fast cloning.

According to the OS and Veeam they are using 15TB out of 30TB, but when I look at the Storage array where the volumes are .... the array shows they are using 24TB out of 30Tb. We have these on different arrays and both report the same. Please advise if you have seen this behavior and what could be the cause/solution.

Thanks

Maybe you Filesystems is not mounted with the option to use scsi unmap?

Here are some infos about SCSI UNMAP:
https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documen ... 20presents

Without the SCSI Unmap commands the filesystem didn't tell the storage that the space is now free after deleting some files.
So the OS know that there is only 15TB in use, but the Storage didn't know it and see more used space.

Hello Aaron

You should open a support case and let our customer support team assist you over a remote session.
We cannot analyze your storage situation over a forum post. And this is not a support forum.
