Re: SQL backup
Hello,
I split that question away from tape-f29/long-term-storage-and-recovery ... 70541.html as it is a different topic.
Yes, Veeam has SQL backup and restore support
Restore: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100
Backup: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100
I assume that you talk about VMs. But it's the same also for physical machines.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: SQL backup
Thanks for the answer. From this link: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100 It talks about backing up SQL transaction logs. Is on-the-fly SQL database backups possible?

Re: SQL backup
Hello,
sounds like you are new to Veeam: I recommend starting with the quick start guide https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/qsg_vsphere/
If "on-the-fly" means "application consistent while the database is running", then the answer is: yes... that's the general checkbox for application aware image processing https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100
if "on-the-fly" means "just do a backup right now of only this one database instead of backing up all databases": we work image based. that means we always backup the whole machine with all databases. If you need a backup of a database "now", then you can do a quick backup of that machine: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100 - that will include all databases of that machine
Best regards,
Hannes
