Maybe a simple Backup Q

HI,

I am running incremental backups of a very large VM.

Restore points to keep on Disk = 6
Enable Synthetic Fulls = Friday
Transform previous full backup chains into roll back = yes

I have a Full Friday backup on the 27th (last week)
This Friday backup failed on the 3rd

How do i manage this? as on Saturday AM the full 2TB backup file is sent to tape.

As the full backup did not happen, there is no 2TB file -

Can i run a active full and send this to tape? and how do i clear down the backup files? as the 2TB backup from the 27th should not be there anymore..

VBK - 2TB on the 27th
VIB - smaller daily files including today

Sam, you can run active full backup and send it to tape. The chain will be started from scratch, older backups will be deleted according to retention (keep in mind that with forward incremental mode there can be different number of restore points on disk on different days of the week). Everything will be sorted next Friday, when the next synthetic full is performed.

Otherwise, you can edit the job and temporarily set it to run Synthetic on Monday, for example.
