Monthly Only Backup Copy Job
I'm trying to figure out the settings I'd need to create a single backup copy job each month. The source job backs up 4 x exchange 2016 servers. The full backup is 52TB uncompressed (it goes to a deduplicating device).
The source job is set to reverse incremental with a forced full each month. How do I configure the backup copy job to pick that one full backup up each month and send it off to our NAS (and glacier)?
Any changes I make to the job seem to instantly restart it doing a fresh copy.
Maybe I'm overthinking this?!
Thanks

Re: Monthly Only Backup Copy Job
Hello Steve,
There is a workaround if you want full backups only on the target: you need to enable GFS retention ('Keep the following restore points for archival purposes' check box), configure monthly backups and enable active full (select the 'Read the entire restore point from source...' check box).
This way, backup copy will behave as forward incremental job with periodic active fulls, avoiding any transforms. On the original backup job you can set anything you need, this does not affect backup copy job.
Thanks

Steve, would he need to setup a separate job for the GFS rention policy in order to send these backup to a different repository?

Joe, I believe OP`s goal is to have backup copy job with full backups only.

Re: Monthly Only Backup Copy Job
Thanks for the feedback. From what you are saying then, the source job has no affect on the backup copy job? Ideally I just want the backup copy job to run once a month, so on the first Saturday of each month as it states in the GFS schedule, and keep that backup forever. I don't want any forward or reverse incrementals in between. Just one 'offsite copy' if you like, one a month. That seems like a simple ask, but I'm not sure it's that straight forward.

Re: Monthly Only Backup Copy Job
If you perform active fulls on backup copy job, there is no difference what backup method you use for the source job.
However, it`s still recommended to copy all incremens offsite to have 2 copies of backups.
Thanks!

Re: Monthly Only Backup Copy Job
To clarify, this monthly offsite is a secondary backup copy job.

[MERGED] backup copy - only FULLs ?
Dear Veeam friends,
I'm running a default backup job - every day - 14 restore-points in mode reverse incremental.
at the end of every month, I want to copy a FULL backup to another repository. (NAS, and keep the backup for 12 months.)
I'm right now not really sure, how this can work.
my thoughts:
1.) create backup copy job, with options: "copy every 31 days" and under schedule only allow Saturday & sunday.
so the job should run only once a mounth at saturday/sunday an copy "the latest backup file" - wich should be an full (because of reverse inc) to my NAS-Repository?
2.) create an seperate backup job, wich only runs on last saturday every month.
also with reversed incremental - but there always having only "1 full" and the others are incrementals. is there an option to run only "FULL" Backups?
anyone got other ideas for full Backup once a month?
