move Veeam 9 server role from physical to virtual

Post by expert »

Hello,

we usa a physical Server (Windows 2012 R2) for all Veeam roles (server, proxy, repository). We plan to move the server-role to a virtual server and retain the proxy and repository role on physical server.
When I move the server role to another server with https://www.veeam.com/kb1889, how should I remove the server role from the physical server and retain the other roles?
What database should I use with the new server (SQL 2014 express or 2012 express)? We are using SharePoint 2013 with SQL 2014 so I could use the Veeam-Server as staging for SQL?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

best regards

Just remove Veeam B&R from the old server and add it as Windows server to your new installation so you could assign proxy/repository roles to it.

To be able to use Veeam B&R server as staging server, you'd better go with SQL 2014 Express.
