Odd 4.0 Backup Error

Post by the-waves »

Hi All,

We have been trialling Veeam 4.0 and are very impressed with the speed!

However on 1 VM we are getting a very strange error:

Retrieving VM files information Failed to retrieve "SCSI (0:0) Hard Disk 1" disk information. Check VM virtual hardware configuration. Failed to validate command "dd if="/vmfs/volumes/4a768273-18a397f8-0b90-001cc4da4142/Exchange-Svr-1/Exchange-Svr-1-000001.vmdk" count=1 bs=16384 2>/dev/nul" feedback /bin/dd if="/vmfs/volumes/4a768273-18a397f8-0b90-001cc4da4142/Exchange-Svr-1/Exchange-Svr-1-000001.vmdk" count=1 bs=16384 2>/dev/nul returned non-zero code - dd if="/vmfs/volumes/4a768273-18a397f8-0b90-001cc4da4142/Exchange-Svr-1/Exchange-Svr-1-000001.vmdk" count=1 bs=16384 2>/dev/nul

Has anybody seen this before?

Hello,

It looks like this VM has invalid configuration, however I assume it might be working fine with no issues, so please can you please firstly check whether this file exists or not on your ESX host:

/vmfs/volumes/4a768273-18a397f8-0b90-001cc4da4142/Exchange-Svr-1/Exchange-Svr-1-000001.vmdk

Also I'd looked through all the disk descriptor files for any references to this snapshot, and you can open a support ticket with us (support@veeam.com), so that our support team could assist you with finding the resoulution.

Thank you!
