path to choose

Post by h4rleken »

hello guys,

with one thing i am struggling a bit (this is a theoretical question not real life scenario)

Upgrade path from 7.x to 10.x is clear as a day... but what i am having trouble understanding, after each upgrade what is happening with data on a backup repository?

documentation for upgrade path: https://www.veeam.com/kb2053

if backup will be taken with 7.x and i will upgrade VB&R to 9.5 or 10 then what options i have to be able to restore taken bakcups? or to avoid this kind of a scenario i would need to do something after each jump in between versions?

thank you kindly :)

Hi Antti, your backups wouldn't be touched during the upgrade. You will be able to restore from them after.

thank you Alex,

also... after the job with upgrades will be done, i would need to upgrade components on physical machines like its explained on next link:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100

but VMs will remain in regular scheduled job (of course if VB&R10 is supported with vCenter)?

Correct, components on all involved servers would need to be upgraded as well. That wouldn't affect the existing jobs provided you disable them prior to the entire upgrade procedure.
