Hi.
Do anybody have any experience with Qnap Qtier:
https://www.qnap.com/solution/qtier-auto-tiering/en/
If used as a backup repository, I was thinking of maybe quicker merging, synthetic full ect.
Any thoughts?

Re: Qnap Qtier as backup repository?
Hi Klaus,
I think as long as your data stayed in the short term, it'd be ideal for the Synthetic operations. But the problem with automatics like this is always the same; sometimes the storage's idea of what is "long term" is way different than your own, and you have to sometimes fight with this idea of short term vs long term. I'm old-fashioned and I hate anything that decides things like this for me. But, if the price is right compared to rolling your own, I say go for it.
Personally, I would prefer a home-rolled super-fast short term storage combine with Backup Copies to an archival storage like a Data Domain or something like that. But that's just me.
