Reboot is required loop

Post by ENBS »

We have tried to upgrade a Hyper-V-Host which is also the VBR-Server (1-man-shop) from 11 to 12 and it installs the prerequisites and wants us to reboot the machine. The problem is that even if you restart the machine, the same dialog comes prompting for a reboot. There is nothinhg in the "pending reboots" in the registry, what's happening here? We had this on another machine too, others worked with no problems. There are no windowsupdates or anything pending. Servers are 2019 Standard.

Hello ENBS

We cannot tell the root cause over a forum topic without having investigated the setup logs. Please contact our technical customer support and provide me with the case number. Please attach the setup log files to the case. You can find them here: C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp
Without case number, the topic will eventually be deleted by moderators.

@mildur: Thanks for the hint with the Programdata\Veeam - Folder. After deleting it, the install went through. :D

Hi ENBS

@ENBS I have this exact same issue and so far support cannot help. Can you explain what folder you deleted to help with the install to go through? Many Thanks

Hi Speedy41,

i got this resolved after deleting "C:\ProgramData\Veeam" . Tricky because the Programdata-Folder is hidden. You also can access it through %programdata% . Then delete the "Veeam"-Folder. Now the setup lets you install veeam.

The fix for the issue is the following:

- Rename the folder "C:/ProgramData/Veeam/Setup/Temp" to "C:/ProgramData/Veeam/Setup/Temp.old"
- Then reboot the backup server and try the installation again

No need to delete or rename other folders.
