Hi all,
Veeam Backup is now prompting, since update 4?, to use ReFS 64K format on all newly created repositories, including removable media.
My understanding is that ReFS is not designed for portable drives and should not be used in such cases. Am I wrong ?
Thus can I suggest that Veeam stops prompting the operator to use ReFS on removable media.
Thanks

Re: ReFS and portable media
Hello!
64K format prompt has been in the product for a few releases now.
ReFS works fine with any direct attached storage. But you're right, USB removable drives are probably not the best candidates from reliability perspective. We'll see if this is something we can detect in order to suppress the message.
Thanks!

Re: ReFS and portable media
The biggest issue with ReFS and portable media is that it auto-upgrades the version. So if you format it on 2016, and then attach the media to a newer release of Windows 10 (or Server 2019), the file system version is upgraded automatically and then can't be read by the 2016 server.
