Replicated VMs Fail Windows Activation

Post by J1mbo »

Upon testing our replicated VMs (which all worked just fine) we did however find "Windows has been deactivated" prompts on many 2k8 VMs (all DataCentre licensed). Hence I wondered why.

To do the test for each VM we created a snapshot, powered on selecting "we moved it", tested, then powered-off, reverted to snapshot and finally deleted the snapshots.

Replica site server VLAN is on the same subnet as the primary (via LAN extension).

Many thanks indeed.

James, Windows activation fails in the case of changing hardware on which it runs. Most likely your target host hardware significantly differs from the source host. Thanks.
