Replicating backup repositories across the WAN?

Post by albertwt »

Hi everyone,

I've got about 3 Veeam Backup servers spread across three different states but connected to each other using the WAN link.

each site has about 60TB of backup data on different Storage hardware but presented as (NTFS) Windows Backup Repository to the Veeam backup server.

Suppose I wanted to replicate the backup data to the remote sites using the VBR v11 built-in WAN acceleration feature, how can I perform these steps as the data is quite big and the backup transformation is always happening?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
that sounds like you are asking for the backup copy job with WAN accelerator.

I don't know what your bandwidth is, but I assume it will take some time.

Before using the WAN accelerators, you need to deploy them: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

As alternative to full transfer via WAN, you can also use seeding: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Best regards,
Hannes

PS: I asked support to close the case, at it is a "how-to" question and not a technical issue.
