Replication job as source of Backup Copy job?

Post by VirtuallyMikeB »

I have 2 scenarios:

1. I have Veeam Replication jobs from Site A to Site B. Can I create Veeam Backup Copy jobs at Site B using the Veeam replicated VMs at Site B as the source?

2. I have Zerto Replication jobs from Site A to Site B. Can I create Veeam Backup Copy jobs at Site B using the Veeam replicated VMs at Site B as the source?

1. It's better works vice versa - backup copy from site A to site B and then replication from backup at site B. To have a backup copy, you need to backup the VMs first (you could backup replicated VMs, of course, but this implies some limitations).
2. Not sure I understand the scenario.

I had a typo in my original post. Thanks.

2. I have Zerto Replication jobs from Site A to Site B. Can I create Veeam Backup Copy jobs (I guess these would be regular Backup jobs, actually) at Site B using the Zerto replicated VMs at Site B as the source?

I doubt that such design wouldn't cause any issues, I'm thinking how a replicated machine to which changes are being constantly committed will stand a snapshot or VSS-aware stun. Thanks.
