Repository for Replica metadata.

Post by rccl_ecain »

I'm working on getting replications running by using the backups as the source for the replica data. How important is the location of the replica metadata in this instance?

I'm trying to get my times down as much as I can, though it's about 130VMs that replicate. The source data is on a DataDomain, and I have the metadata on there as well. Now in the traditional method I would have the metadata either on the Veeam server or a proxy on the source side, but in this case I don't. Will this have any big impact on my replica times? Currently the source is the bottleneck, which coming from dedupe storage is expected...

Moving metadata away form the dedupe storage should not have significant impact on the your replication job performance. The job will still be limited by the performance of the DD box.
