Restore to .pst - Veeam Explorer - subfolders created?
Hi.
When we export f.ex a mail account into a .pst from Veeam Explorer, it will always create a subfolder which will have all the mailboxes.
F.ex the "Inbox, Sent Items etc." will be empty but there will be a folder named the same as a subfolder.
F.ex if I restore the mailbox "Post", it will create a subfolder named "Post" in the mailbox "Post" where all the emails are 100% correct. Instead of directly going into the "Inbox" on the rootstructure.
Here is a picture which shows the case (sorry the language, it is norwegian. Beautiful language though!)
Is this a problem related to how I export, the language or a known bug or by design?
Veeam 8 patch3. All updates installed.

Frank, this behavior is currently by design.

Ok, what is the argument for this? just curious.
If we export the .pst to a customer (or another company) they would normally import it with powershell etc. The result is not as expected as email is not going into the folder we would expect.
Is it possible to have an option on this on the export in a future release?

Let's consider this a feature request.

I guess so that when exporting multiple mailboxes into the same PST, their emails don't mix up.

Ah, not a bad idea though.
But 99% of all restores to .pst that we perform is single mailboxes from us as a service provider and we would be excited to see the option to see the exports like "the original" structure.
As said, not a very big deal, but would be nice to have the option to have the option during the export. Hopefully it can be a ncie feature request for a later version.

This cannot be "by design" or not provide a choice of output method - shared PST or single PST.
This makes restoring a fucking nightmare... Like it makes this pretty much useless on anything but a handful.
Just code in a choice or do the logical thing and do the logical thing and make it default towards single user PSTs...

We're currently working on improving that part. Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Restore to .pst - Veeam Explorer - subfolders created?
I'll jump in here as a feature request as well. We did notice this and it confused some users who we restored for. They kept looking in the wrong folder for their data.
Would be great to have this automatically detect a single mailbox export vs multi-mailbox export and create the pst appropriately.

Even multiple PST files (one per mailbox) would be an improvement on the current behaviour, no extra GUI prompts to add (although that would be even better) just create a PST per mailbox and name it after the mailbox name

Would a single PST, but with folders created one level up be an acceptable solution?

Re: Restore to .pst - Veeam Explorer - subfolders created?
Why do you want to make a single PST? I think most users want to have 1 .pst for each mailbox in 99,9% of the scenarios. But I may be wrong. But I doubt it. Very much.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Restore to .pst - Veeam Explorer - subfolders created?
are there any news regarding thins feature request? We are actually gonna move som mailboxes now and it would be great to export them as single .pst for each mailbox for easy import

Re: Restore to .pst - Veeam Explorer - subfolders created?
In Veeam B&R 9.5, all the restored mailboxes are placed into a single PST file, each in its own root subfolder. Mailbox structure is recreated according to the one stored in backup. If you're restoring just a single mailbox, its contents will go right into PST root.
