Restore while backup job running

I tried to start a restore job while backup was running on the same backup file, and got an error.

Is it not possible to restore and backup a vm simultaneously?

Ole,

Yes, it is possible to restore when backup is running if you are using incremental backup mode. However, with reversed incremental backup mode, this is not possible because backup file you need to be restoring from is being updated.
