Schedule?

Post by Noiden »

Hi,

I have a couple of VM's and run's Veeam through a Vcenter server.
One of the servers act's as AD and file server.

I just wonder, what's the best schedule to set on this one?
I think for the users to be able to restore an file or something the best will be continusley? But that's going to take to much load.
And every night? Then i can't save a file that someone accidently deleted under the day.

Or am I tottaly out fishing? =)

Have a great weekend!

Kind regards.

Hello! You should decide on the acceptable RPO in your organization first and set the scheduling appropriately. Of course, the lower RPO is, the heavier is the impact put by backups on your environment, so you should have enough performance resources to support it.

I wouldn't do backups of the file server more than once a day. It's much more efficient to use built-in Volume Shadow Copy Service if you want to be protected from accidental file deletion by a user.
