Hi,
is it possible to back up or replicate a VM which has attached a LTO drive?
My plan is to backup the virtual machines with Veeam and then push the resulting backups to tape, without the need of an extra "tape server". Veeam and BackupExec share the same VM. In case of a Microsoft SBS network I'd like to utilize the SBS version of BackupExec. It's quite cheap, but this must be installed in the SBS VM and I want to backup this SBS VM with Veeam too.
Regards,
Jens

Re: SCSI/ SAS passthrough
Hello Jens,
As far as I got you right, you have an SCSI connection to your LTO device on the Guest level and not on the VMs. In this case, If you're able to create a snapshot of this VM, then you should be able process it in your jobs.
Furthermore, you may be interested in looking through Veeam Backup and Backup Exec integration whitepaper which can be obtained through our support team.
Thank you!
