Second hard drive missing in Windows Guest OS fiel restore
Hi,
I have a Windows 2K8R2 machine with two hard disk (1: 50GB, 2: 120GB). Both disk have a MBR partition (no GPT ).
When I try a Windows Guest File restore (Veeam B&R 6 patch3), I see only two disk (C: which, in fact, is the boot parition of 2K8R2, and D: wich is the real C:) out of my three disks. D: is missing (the 120GB disk, should be E: when restoring).
When I try a "Other Os guest file restore" via the FLR, I can see the E: disk.
Do you have the answer ? I must explain that behaviour to the end user (one of our *big* client).

Eric, is there a chance that the second disk is dynamic?

Actually v6 does support FLR from GPT disks, so that would not be a problem.emachabert wrote:Both disk have a MBR partition (no GPT )

I've encountered this on V5 too. Win2k8 SP2 in that case.

To add, in that case the "missing" partition is on a separate 600GB VMDK which, it turns out, is GPT. Of course it's accessible via instant recovery OK.

Alexander, you were right.
The disks are Dynamic, end of story.
It's not a big deal, but now I can answer them why they can't open the disk with FLR.
It's their administration server that contains all the app to manage their systems.
I didn't check disk type because I would never had thought it had been configured as dynamic, that machine had been installed by IBM Global Service team...
Thank you for the quick response.
