Sharepoint restore and SQL 2012

Post by namiko78 »

Hello

My lab setup:

1 veeam 7.0 patch 1 server with a local database

I'm trying to test sharepoint item level restore, but my sharepoint 2010 databases sit on SQL 2012, and the built in 2008 staging engine refuses to open them.
Are there any workarounds to this? Could i move my veeam databases to the SQL server? Can I install veeam explorer for sharepoint on the sql 2012 system?

Any ideas?

Thanks
foggy

Steven, the staging SQL Server must have the same or a later version as the server that hosts restored SharePoint databases and must run on the machine where Veeam Explorer for SharePoint is installed (that is, on the machine running Veeam Backup server). You can either upgrade your current SQL Server instance or install another instance with the required version on the Veeam Backup server and point Veeam Explorer for SharePoint to use it (via the corresponding setting in its UI).

Another option (probably, the easier one) is to install second Veeam B&R instance on the remote SQL server and perform restores there.
