SSH authentication failed
Hello,
I'm new to Veeam backup and i like it.
The problem i have is that i've create a backup of a linux (sles11) VM, and now try to restore a file directly back to the original server. (FLR is started)
Therefore i have to add a "New linux server". So i try to add it, fill in the ip/or dns name and ssh credentials that are also working from putty.
But i get Failed to login to "servername", port 22, user root, user authentication failed"
As i say putty is working fine from the backup server to the linux (sles11) VM on ssh.
I have
- 1 dedicated Veeam backup server. (windows 2008 R2)
- Vmware esxi 4.1.0
- All components are in the same lan segment.
I've also tried some non-root accounts but get the same error.
Who can help me with this?
Regards,
Tristan.

Re: SSH authentication failed
Hi Tristian, couple of things to check:
1. The server must have Perl installed
2. The server supports password authentication
3. The root password should not contain certain symbols (such as space)
If all above looks OK, open a support case and provide them the debug logs.
Thanks!

Re: SSH authentication failed
Hi,
I've checked the things.
1. The server has perl installed (it's a basic sles11sp1 install)
2. What do you exactly mean with password auth? , how can i check that/
3. I've made a new test user on the server with a simple username (test) and password. But still no success.
Is there a log file i can check?
Thanks.

If you are on your official trial, then you are eligible for support. When you click New Topic, there is a link in big red font explaining all this.
