Support AIX Server
Hello Team,
I asked my question at support Veeam who answered me to post a topic on the forum.
I would like to know if one day Veeam Backup&Replication will support AIX Server and which will be the target version ?
Is it in our roadmap ?
We have 2 servers AIX and we can't backup with Veeam.
Thanks for answers

Re: Support AIX Server
Hi,
If you want to back up AIX then you might want to try VAU, it already works and available.
If you are asking when VAU will be able to send backups to VBR repositories, then the answer is that it is already in development and is scheduled for future versions of VBR.
And, since you are here, would you share some details about your AIX configuration (version, WPARs presence, amount of data etc) and backup and restore requirements (file-level, volume-level, BMR, application processing, RPO, RTO)?
Thank you!

Re: Support AIX Server
So if you can't backup AIX to VBR Repos, what are compatible backup destinations for AIX backups?

Re: Support AIX Server
Hi,
Essentially, any storage that is accessible by OS where the agent is installed can be used as a target. That is, locally mounted network folders, direct-attached storage, iSCSI etc.
Thanks

Hi,
VAU stands for Veeam Agent for Unix. We are currently working on a new, significantly improved version too.
Thanks!

Re: Support AIX Server
What about VAU with RMAN integration (application-aware backup for Oracle DBs running on AIX platforms)? Is this on the roadmap?

Re: Support AIX Server
Yes, this is something we're looking at since neither AIX nor Oracle are going anywhere any time soon.
