Talking to the database
Hi,
We would like to feed our datawarehouse application with the results of the daily backups. The e-mail reports we get from Veeam look great but can't be read properly. Are we "allowed" to query the SQL DB directly? Is there a schema that explains how the database is build? How big is the chance that a new update would change the DB structure and have us recreate the queries?
Or is Powershell the way to get the same details as the e-mail reports do, but in an easier to convert format?
Gabrie

Hi Gabrie,
PowerShell would be advised as it can gather most of the information as well. Which statistics are you looking for/in need of exactly?

Re: Talking to the database
Querying database directly is strongly not recommended, as database schema and tables might change from one update to another. You can use PowerShell, SNMP or evem event log to feed this data to your application. Alternatively, you can use predefined Veeam ONE reports to export all the data and then save it in the datawarehouse.

Should he need some assistance with scripting, let him create a topic in the corresponding subforum. Thanks.
