Dear all,
I currently face a problem installing the Hotfix of KB4510
Since Veeam B&R is 12.1 + , I wanted to install with installer VeeamBackup&Replication_12.1.2.172_20240516
I am logged in with .\administrator, german Server 2019 standard
Server is NOT part of a domain
Starting the .exe with right-click and "as Administrator"
then it fails in the first step after clicking "I accept"
"SSPI-Authentifizierung für Benutzer postgres fehlgeschlagen"
translates to "SSPI authentication failed for user postgres".
and "failed to connect to the database"
I tried to follow
https://www.veeam.com/kb4542
upon checking latest logs I see
2024-06-03 11:21:33.975 CEST [13276] [user=postgres,db=VeeamBackup, app=[unbekannt]] LOG: kein passender Eintrag in Usermap »veeam« für Benutzer »postgres«, authentifiziert als »SYSTEM@NT-AUTORITÄT«
2024-06-03 11:21:33.975 CEST [13276] [user=postgres,db=VeeamBackup,app=[unbekannt]] FATAL: SSPI-Authentifizierung für Benutzer »postgres« fehlgeschlagen
2024-06-03 11:21:33.975 CEST [13276] [user=postgres,db=VeeamBackup,app=[unbekannt]] DETAIL: Verbindung stimmte mit pg_hba.conf-Zeile 89 überein: »host all all ::1/128 sspi map=veeam«
checking file pg_ident.conf
I see that the .\administrator is definitively listed. But the system account has an entry with the german "Ä" replaced and is written like this
veeam SYSTEM@NT-AUTORITT postgres
so I added an entry with correct syntax. Did not help
also replacing the line and setting to
veeam SYSTEM@NT-AUTORITÄT postgres
was not helpful. I did restart the prostgre service, too
maybe this is due to latest windows Updates which also had problems with non-english OS... ?
Just a hunch
I will try Update with the full .iso now

Re: Update KB4510 Installer fails - special characters
Hello,
That sounds like a technical issue. We cannot investigate such issues through a forum topic.
Please provide a support case ID for this issue, as requested when you click New Topic. Without case number, the topic will eventually be deleted by moderators.
The full iso cannot be used for an update. You may try the following before running the update exe again.
„Change the user from local system (NT-AUTORITÄT\SYSTEM) to the local Administrator (HOSTNAME\Administrator) for the Veeam services to perform the upgrade. Once upgrade is complete, then you can revert this change.“
It helped in a similar case. Please report back if it was successful.
Best regards,
Fabian
PS: support can only help if you upload logs https://www.veeam.com/kb1832

Re: Update KB4510 Installer fails - special characters
Hi Fabian,
first I just thought it was a minor thing and wanted to contribute here. but since the service fails now, I opened a support ticket.
I added manual LOG files with the PS Script.
I could add the ticket ID, if possible.
your workaround did not help me unfortunately. Or I did not fully comprehend it.
best regards,
David

Re: Update KB4510 Installer fails - special characters
Update:
I tried using the local Administrator in the setup wizard gui. but did not try changing the service itself to this user
after the service failed to start, I did just that and was also able to start the setup itself.
