Hello,

You need to disable file indexing in the guest OS settings of the backup job for VMs using Windows Server 2003.

Thank you!

Why before upgrade it hasn't problem for indexing ?
Is Veeam V10 can't support Windows Server 2003 any more ?

Thank you.

Yes, application-aware processing and guest file system indexing is not supported for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP virtual machines. However, crash-consistent backup of such VMs will of course still be supported. If you still need to support this for legacy reasons, then staying with 9.5 U4 is the way to go.

Hello,

Guest processing is not supported for Windows Server 2003 due to VSS limitations so you should disable it to make the job work.

Please note, that according to the forum rules you should include a support case ID in your post when posting about any technical issue. Any topic not having a case ID will be eventually removed by forum moderators.

Thanks

Windows Server 2003 went EOL 4.5 years ago. I think it's reasonable for Veeam to drop support in v10.

I am getting this error on VMs that aren't using 2003. Getting it on some 2019 VMs. Yet it mentions they are 2003 VMs which they are not

We rely on what vSphere API returns regarding the OS version on the VM, so this should be easy to troubleshoot. As the first step, I would check in vSphere Web Client to see what vSphere itself thinks about those machines.
