Veeam 7.0 only 1 VM at a time

Post by unsichtbarre »

I recently upgraded a site to Veeam 7.0. I upgraded the Veeam Manager and all of the proxies (4 proxies at each side).

I have 7 replication jobs:
4 jobs contain only one VM each - these are mission-critical servers
3 Jobs contain 9 VMs apiece - these are user desktops and less critical servers

I have four proxies with 4 or more CPUs at each site.

We have Gigabit WAN pipe at both locations.

Previously (in 6.5), different jobs would run concurrently on different proxies. We had the whole environment replicating every 15 minutes!

Now (in 7.0), no matter what proxies I set, I can only get 1 job to run (and only process 1 VM) at a time! Even if I manually specify separate proxies for different jobs, i still get the message: 8/24/2013 2:00:15 PM :: Resource not ready: VMware backup proxy

I have not opened a support case yet, any advice, this has taken a 15-minute cycle and made it 4-6 hours!

Interesting. I don't really have an explanation for why V7 would not process multiple jobs at the same time, however, I'm curious if you have enabled the new parallel job processing that allows for parallel processing of multiple VMs, and VM disks within a single job (under the Menu Tab...Options...Advanced). Perhaps this might solve the problem. Otherwise I'd have to suggest contacting support as this is not expected behavior.

Hi John, we could not reproduce this behavior, so please open a support case, upload the logs and post the case number here. Thanks!
