Veeam Backup and Replication with HPE StoreOnce Catalyst

Post by SvrGrl »

I am setting up the initial backup jobs to test out Veeam backup and replication/availability suite 9.5. On the HPE StoreOnce 4700 and 4430 appliances I am trying to find out what is best practice:
1. To send all backup jobs to the same catalyst store
or
2. To use separate catalyst stores for different backup types ( this second option is what we do with our current backup software).

I cannot seem to find information on using multiple catalyst stores on one StoreOnce appliance with Veeam.
Does anyone have any recommendations or information on the best practices?

Hi Tara, there're no Veeam-specific recommendations in regard to the number of Catalyst stores to use. More stores might give a bit better performance, however, keep in mind that there's no global dedupe across them. Basically, we suggest to conform with generic StoreOnce best practices here.
