Veeam Backup failed: Server error: End of file
I am running into a issue with just one specific VM, where the backup fails. I'm not sure if there is a size limit to what veeam can backup, but it seems to destroy itself after exactly 100GB of backup.
The error:
--------------------------------------------------------------
7 of 8 files processed
Total VM size: 1.90 TB
Processed size: 100.00 GB
Processing rate: 24 MB/s
Backup mode: NBD without changed block tracking
Start time: 28/05/2010 7:54:45 AM
End time: 28/05/2010 9:05:43 AM
Duration: 1:10:58
Verifying changed block tracking...
Disk "Hard disk 2" has incorrect changed block tracking configuration.
One or more VM disks have incorrect changed block tracking configuration. To resolve this, open VMware vSphere Client, right-click the VM, choose Edit Settings, Options tab, select General, click Configuration Parameters, and set all entries with ‘ctkEnabled’ substring to false. Veeam Backup will then automatically re-enable changed block tracking with the correct settings during the next job run.
Backing up file "[Data1] Server/Server_1-flat.vmdk"
BackupDisk failed
Client error: Failed to open VDDK disk [[Data1] Server/Server_1.vmdk] ( is read-only mode - [true] )
Failed to open VMDK.
Logon attempt with parameters [VC/ESX: [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx];Port: 902;Login: [root];VMX Spec: [moref=16];Snapshot mor: [16-snapshot-7];Transports: [nbd]] failed because of the following errors:
Server error: End of file
--------------------------------------------------------------
The VM configuration is 2 Virtual disks, one 100GB main drive for the VM, and a 1.8TB VMDK for data storage. It seems to have issues with the 1.8TB vmdk.
I will also be sending the info to the support email address. However it seems important that if other customers are seeing limitations that this can be addressed.
Thanks for any pointers
S.

Re: Veeam Backup failed: Server error: End of file
Try to define the Jobs not in "VirtualAppliance Mode" try to define it over Network......yes that will be slower, but if then the backup is running, the problem is maybe not located on your side ?
-> VMware vStorage API
mode : Network instead of "Virtual Appliance"
