Veeam backup with ESX host 3.0.2

Post by yanikt »

Hello All.

I'm actually trying Veeam Backup & Replication 5 on a old VMware infrastructure (ESX 3.0.2).
But I have an error message with my failed backups : API vStorage don't work on ESX before 3.5...

Maybe there is an older version of veeam backup to help me?

Bests regards

Hi, you should enable Legacy processing modes in Tools > Options and use them instead of vStorage API. Please note that they will be discontinued in the next major Veeam Backup & Replication release completely, so please plan on upgrading your hosts soon. Thanks!

Hello thx Gostev for your response.

I try it, but I have this error :
Processing rate: 0 KB/s
Backup mode: VCB SAN
Start time: 26/09/2011 10:32:58
End time: 26/09/2011 10:33:32
Duration: 0:00:34

Initializing target session
GetLocalText failed
Client error: Cannot get service content.
Soap fault. Unsupported namespace in content of SOAP BodyDetail: '', endpoint: ''
SOAP connection is not available. Connection ID: [VYGON-EC-VC].
Failed to create NFC download stream. NFC path: [nfc://conn:VYGON-EC-VC,nfchost:host-18,stg:datastore-20@VYGON-AV-2/VYGON-AV-2.vmx].

Server error: End of file

VYGON-EC-VC is my VCENTER. I try it for backup 4 VM's but the error still the same...

Any idea?

For information, I backup VM to migrate this environnement to VSphere 4.1 & restore VM after.

Yannick, if you experience any technical issue, please do contact our support team, as in most cases full log files investigation or WebEx session is required. Thanks!

Instead of going through this whole process backup, did you consider using regular copy (copy/paste VM files in the Servers tree)? Be sure to right-click your ESX 3.0.2 hosts there, and provide service console credentials first (for optimal performance). Thanks!
