Veeam Support for Other Backup Software Backups

We've been asked to tender for a new backup solution, which must include the ability to restore backups from third party backup solutions. I'm pretty sure this isn't supported, but asking to be 100% sure.

Can Veeam Import or Restore from Backups taken from the following Backup Products:

• Netbackup (version unknown)

• Backup Exec 21

• Another Backup Exec (exact version not known)

The backups are both on SAN (e.g. HP SAN and EVA SAN), NAS (type unknown), Physical Storage (HP DL380 Gen 9 with local disks with dedup) and Tapes (LTO-5)

Though I doubt you need it Lester, when I get pushback on this from new potentials, I instruct my team to tell them "please show me a backup solution that can work with another solution's backups"

To date I don't think my team has ever heard a real answer for this except for solutions that are just tarballing everything, which are never in the requirements . (Valid solution in some cases, but it's definitely not a clean solution at all at scale for non-power users)

Common workaround I see is to keep the trial version of the software next to it's backups during the transition period. Moreover some folks make full backup of current backup software installations via Veeam B&R/Agents and use Veeam instant recovery whenever restore from third party backup is required.
