Veeam v12 upgrade order

Hello,

I have been reading up on the Veeam version 12 upgrade. It says that you should first update the Veeam Enterprise Manager and then the backup and replication server. But what happens if you first update the back and replication server and then the enterprise manager? What would not work then? Is it possible to do it this way?

If you upgrade this way, you will lose connection to VEM for VBR, but then it should reconnect after upgrading the VEM server. If you are doing the upgrade, I am surprised it is not forcing you to upgrade the VEM first, as I am pretty sure the installer sees that and grays out the VBR option until you upgrade VEM.
