We are a hosting company and offer VMware Virtual Machines. One of the problems we have is that we are unable to use Veeam VSS because it requires a high level of trust between the Veeam server and the VM guest OS. As a hosting company we do not have any control over the guest OS, so we can't create or enforce the necessary security requirements to make this work.
What we would like to see is the ability for the customer to install a Veeam VSS agent manually into their VM, and then use VMware Tools to call Veeam VSS. In this situation no special security requirements are necessary. We can then advise our customers to install new Veeam VSS agents as they become available.
At the moment we are relying on VMware VSS. Is this something that is possibly on the roadmap for Veeam Backup?

Re: Veeam VSS Implementation
Hello Nikolai, yes this is definitely on our roadmap (short term) because it is a quite common request. Thank you for your feedback!
