Is there any technical reason Veeamzip minimum retention is 1 week? Typically users are only needing the VeeamZip for a couple of days (patching, upgrades etc).

No, technical reasons, only logical ones - based on our data, VeeamZIP is typically used for creating standalone full backup that has to be stored outside of simple retention for prolongated period of time (separate long-term retention, for instance). This dictates the decision over minimum retention interval.
