VPN question

Post by kzhang »

This is rather a general VPN network question, I don't know where else to put it, hope we don't mind.

We are setting up a site-to-site VPN, for instance:
site 1: 192.168.1.x
DR site 2: 192.168.2.x

If we replicate our VM's to site 2, if we then turn on a VM which has for ex IP 192.168.1.101 at site 2, will the users at site 1 be able to see this machine at site 2? and vice versa, will this machine be able to see the resources at site 1??

thx.

Provided that you are using different subnets, It should be fine only if you setup a site to site VPN for 2 locations using NAT/VPN on both sites. On the other hand, if you configure a similar subnet on both sites, then you would be able to use just VPN Bridge (without NAT) to route the traffic from site A to site B and vice versa.
