VSS timeout with Exchange 2007

I'm having this exact issue with Exchange 2007, but do not use (and have never used) Backup Exec. Any ideas?

I've split this into the new topic. Let's not hi-jack the topic you have chosen to post this in, because it talks about another Exchange version, and about the issue caused by BackupExec presence (which as you state you never had).

1. Check if VSS framework has some issues by examining writer statuses with the below command. If some writers show errors, open a support case with Microsoft.

Code: Select all

vssadmin list writers
2. Check if any 3rd party providers are possibly stiil present. If there is anything besides default Microsoft provider, uninstall it.

Code: Select all

vssadmin list providers
3. If the above does not help, contact our support for further troubleshooting.

No external providers, and none of the writers currently show errors (though it is sporadic).

I opened a ticket with Veeam on Monday (#594829), though no resolution yet. Ideas welcomed!

For additional clarification, this is on Exchange 2007 SP3 (none of the three Update Rollups) with 2008 R2.

If the issue is sporadic, you should try running vssadmin list writers right after you have experienced it. This would allow you to see what writer is failing, and capture the error code. Be sure to run this on VM itself, and not backup server. Thanks.
